We have officially shifted (moved) from our 5 Star Hotel existence and moved to apartment living. The views from our balconies are stunning.
Each bathroom and the kitchen have their own water heater that you turn on 10 minutes before you need hot water. That seems like an excellent way to conserve. In general though the cars here are big and there is as much packaging as in the US. Apparently the power goes out often but mostly in the summer when people are using more ACs and fans. There is signage in some of the elevators that give instructions on how to manage getting stuck in the elevator. Most businesses and high end apartments have back up generators so the power outage is for only a few minutes.
